Summary of the contracting process

The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service (DSFRA) has completed the procurement process for Rapid Intervention Vehicles (RIVs) – specifically the 4x2 variant, which are 7-tonne Pumping Appliances. This contract was awarded under the Chief Fire Officers Association Framework Agreement for UK Fire and Rescue Emergency Response Vehicles, effective from 10th April 2017 until 9th April 2023, with an anticipated duration for services and support lasting until 9th April 2035. The procurement method utilised for this contract was a direct award, with a total contract value of £5,500,000, covering delivery within the South West region of the United Kingdom.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses engaged in the manufacture and supply of firefighting vehicles and equipment. Businesses that specialise in vehicle production, emergency vehicle conversion, or after-sales support services would be particularly suitable to compete for similar contracts in the future. The significant value of the contracts available indicates a robust market for suppliers in the firefighting and emergency services sector, especially those who can provide innovative solutions and maintain high-quality standards.
