Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence is initiating a procurement process for the "Chinook Maintenance School Virtual Maintenance Trainer," which falls under the training simulators category in the South East region of the United Kingdom. Currently in the planning stage, this tender has a key engagement deadline set for 11th August 2021. The project seeks to develop a high-fidelity, screen-based emulation system to enhance training for Chinook engineers in diagnosis and fault rectification across various aircraft systems.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in training technology, particularly those with experience in developing simulation software for military or aviation applications. Companies that can offer innovative training solutions that meet the specific needs of the Ministry of Defence, including the ability to customise faults and training scenarios, will find this an ideal opportunity to enhance their business growth and expand their portfolio in the public sector.

Notice Title

Chinook Maintenance School Virtual Maintenance Trainer

Notice Description

There is a requirement to provide and support a Virtual Maintenance Trainer (s) within the Chinook Maintenance School at RAF Odiham in Hampshire. This is to provide component location, fault finding, diagnosis and rectification training for Chinook engineers, both mechanical and avionic across a wide, if not complete range of aircraft systems. Whilst there is no predetermined solution, it is anticipated that this is likely to be a high fidelity screen-based emulation which allows instructors to inject faults and presents an accurate response to student input whether that is correct or not. There is insufficient real-estate for an aircraft replica, or part thereof.
