Summary of the contracting process

The Victoria and Albert Museum is seeking to procure a research-grade UV-Visible-Near Infrared spectrophotometer and an associated bespoke accelerated light ageing facility. This procurement, categorised under goods, is currently in the tender stage, with submissions due by 4 December 2020. The contract is expected to commence on 14 December 2020 and run until 13 December 2025. The geographical focus is on London, UK, and the budget for this project is between £100,000 and £500,000, although funding is subject to final confirmation from the AHRC under the Capabilities for Collections call. This open procedure invites competitive tenders with options for variations or alternative quotes.

This tender presents significant opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) that specialise in scientific instrumentation and laboratory services. Businesses with expertise in providing turn-key systems, remote monitoring capabilities, and maintenance services will be particularly well-suited to compete. The inclusion of a substantial maintenance component and robust operational specifications suggests that businesses capable of offering comprehensive support services, along with the necessary technical equipment, have a strong chance of success in this procurement process.
