Notice Title

Aldgate to Blackfriars Cycleway - Feasibility Assessment

Notice Description

Consultancy serices to provide a feasibility assessment of the current designed Aldgate to Blackfriars Cycleways as set out in the Consultant's Brief. A preliminary scheme outline has been designed for Aldgate to Blackfriars Cycleway. The Cycleway route has several interdependencies with other projects / developments. The two projects which the Cycleway design has tied into are All Change at Bank Project and the Leadenhall Street Pedestrian Priority/City Cluster Project. These two projects are expected to significantly reduce motorised vehicle volumes on affected streets making it acceptable for people cycling to mix with general traffic. However, large sections of the route on Queen Victoria Street, traffic volumes will still be high and unsuitable to mix cyclists with traffic. Therefore protected cycle lanes are proposed in addition to priority interventions given to cyclists at signalised junctions. Appendix 1 shows the preliminary outline design.
