Clinical (Healthcare) and Hazardous Waste Services
Notice Description
Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BHFT) and Great Western Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (GWHFT) have the need for a Clinical (Healthcare) and Hazardous Waste Service. The chosen Contractor(s) will manage the collection and disposal of all relevant waste streams highlighted within this contract specification on behalf of BHFT and GWHFT. This is a joint procurement only after which BHFT and GWHFT will sign separate contracts with the appointed Contractor(s). Additionally separate contract monitoring will be undertaken post award. The tender is divided into two lots and contractors can bid for either one or two lots. The Contractor(s) will deliver the following during the life of the contract: the collection and disposal of all relevant waste streams highlighted within this contract specification, an effective audit and monitoring system for Clinical waste across BHFT and GWHFT enabling tracking to be completed from collection to treatment/disposal, effective segregation of waste, continuing sustainable systems to minimise waste and delivering sustainable recycling/reuse opportunities, continued usage of the national colour coded system for disposal of clinical waste, improvement in waste management/minimisation across BHFT and GWHFT to reach NHS targets during the course of the contract. Additionally the contractor may be requested to provide at no additional cost to provide training on new processes and information for key/frontline staff in best practice waste management principles and the supply of clinical waste related large bins.
