Pevensey Floating Pennywort Control - continuation of contract for removal.
Notice Description
Floating Pennywort is an aggressive aquatic alien weed which has infested Pevensey Levels SSSI, SAC and Ramsar site. The weeds presents a significant flood risk and endangers the protected site. Effective control of the weed involved mechanical removal and chemical control. Control of the weed has been ongoing on Pevensey Levels for 4 years and is showing good results. This additional funding would allow ALL floating Pennywort outside of main rivers and Water Management Board ditches to be treated. (Environment Agency fund a programme to manage control on main rivers and Water Management Board ditches). Additional information: Please note that Defra procurement uses e-tendering, provided by Bravosolutions. In order to access the Bravo system you will need to be registered. If you're already registered on the Bravo portal please check that your registration includes Defra, as you have to specify us in order to correctly receive the tender documents.
