Summary of the contracting process

The Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, located in Gloucester, United Kingdom, has successfully completed a procurement process titled "PCI Consumables (Cordis)" under the CPV classification for medical consumables, specifically targeting percutaneous coronary intervention consumables like stents and balloons. This procurement, carried out through a selective method by calling off from a framework agreement, involves an estimated contract value ranging from £224,048 for the initial two-year term to £482,824 for a maximum term of four years. The contract period is set from 15th December 2025 to 14th December 2029, with a possible extension up to 14th December 2029. This initiative reflects their partnership with the Peninsula Purchasing and Supply Alliance for enhancing the Cardiology consumables strategy, and the award process was published on 16th February 2026.

The tender offers significant growth opportunities for businesses involved in providing cardiology-related medical consumables, particularly stents and balloons. Firms specialising in medical consumables and capable of participating in selective procurement from framework agreements are well-positioned to compete. This includes larger enterprises rather than SMEs or VCSEs, owing to the contract scale and demanding industry standards in healthcare supply. The awarded contract provider, Cordis Medical UK Limited, indicates potential for collaboration in supplying high-quality interventional cardiology products within the South West region of the United Kingdom, which can stimulate expansion into new markets and enhance business portfolios in the medical sector.
