Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process pertains to a training programme titled "Teenagers and the Risk of Sexual Exploitation," aimed at equipping staff within Cornwall Council's Children's Early Help, Psychology and Social Care Service with essential skills. This initiative is currently in the planning stage, with a projected maximum contract value of £22,000 and a deadline for engagement completion set for 23rd February 2018. The workshops are intended to take place across multiple sessions from September 2016 until February 2018, with venues across the South West of England being required for accessibility.

This tender represents an opportunity for training providers and educational consultants specialising in innovative learning methodologies that focus on adolescent development and risk management. Companies that deliver engaging, participative workshops aimed at equipping social care professionals to work collaboratively with teenagers may find this procurement particularly relevant. The emphasis on creative and interactive training formats may attract businesses that offer specialised pedagogical expertise in social care education and training services.

Notice Title

Teenagers and the Risk of Sexual Exploitation: Training for staff working in Cornwall Council's Children's Early Help, Psychology and Social Care Service

Notice Description

Please note that this early engagement opportunity has now been completed. Please do not respond. A recent report by Research in Practice (Hanson and Holmes, 2014) explored the research and practice evidence around adolescence and risk. It suggested that despite an improved understanding of adolescent development and the specific risks faced by young people during this period of their lives the social care system is not very effective in reducing risks or protecting young people. The report also noted that research provides clear evidence of the powerful and central role that relationships play in adolescent well-being (WHO, 2014). It is particularly important at this time to be able to develop positive relationships with young people. This is reflected in the client centred and strengths based approaches that underpin a systemic approach to direct practice in Cornwall. We are looking to identify organisations or individuals who would have the skills and capacity to deliver an innovative and creative 1 day workshop that will support those working in the Children's Early Help, Psychology and Social Care Services to further develop their skills in working with teenagers to reduce the risk of sexual exploitation. The workshop should be engaging and highly participative. We are not looking for conventional classroom-style learning. This workshop will enable participants to improve their understanding of the lived experience of young people and to be better equipped to work collaboratively with young people. There will be 1 pilot session in June 2016 followed by 18 sessions over 18 months from September 2016 until February 2018. We will organise a venue and refreshments for the pilot session in June but the training provider will be expected to organise and pay for the venues and refreshments for the other 18 sessions. The provider will be required to ensure they select a venue or venues that offer equal access to staff travelling from all areas of the county. Maximum Contract Value The maximum value of this contract is PS22000. This should include the costs of providing the workshops, venues, refreshments, planning/preparation time and all other expenses. Please contact me by email by midday on Friday 15th April if you would be interested in being invited to provide a quote for this training.
