Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Commissioning Board is seeking to award a contract for the GP Patient Survey (GPPS), aimed at understanding patient experiences with GP services and NHS dentistry. This high-profile tender, classified under survey services, is in the award stage as of 6th January 2017, following its completion on 13th May 2016. The contract, valued at £10,126,812, is set to commence on 2nd June 2016 and extend until 31st July 2019. Notice Title

GP Patient Survey

Notice Description

The GP Patient Survey (GPPS) seeks the views of over two and a half million people every year about their experience of GP services and NHS dentistry. It produces an extensive database that can be used by a wide range of stakeholders for developing services and policies to improve patient experience. The survey is sent out physically to patients in January and July. This is a very high profile survey, which the Secretary of State, and other DH Ministers have a high level of interest in. It is the biggest survey of its kind, and is used to collect data on a wide range of issues in addition to its primary focus on GP practices. The results of the survey are an official statistic, and are used to inform the NHS England. * The specific requirements for potential suppliers will be to manage and operate the GPPS, including: o Questionnaire Redesign: To review the current survey and ensure the questions reflect priority and patient need (to ensure relevancy, quality and value) o Sampling and Cognitive Testing of Questionnaire: Testing of the questionnaire for patient understanding, applicability and reliability etc. o Fieldwork: Running the survey via post, managing the phone-line and translation survey in 13 languages (incl. British Sigh Language). o Data analysis, communications and reporting: To collate, analyse and publish results at a national and local level, and make these available for NHS England and the public. o Stakeholder management: To manage the telephone helpline services.
