Summary of the contracting process

Supply Chain Coordination Limited procured food-to-go goods for NHS Supply Chain: Food’s customer base, with delivery covering the United Kingdom and a range of wider locations including the Channel Islands, Isle of Man, Europe, British Overseas Territories and the rest of the world. The requirement covers patient-feeding sandwiches, salads and snack pots; retail sandwiches, salads and sandwich fillings; cakes, street food, snack pots, pies, pastries and pizza; frozen desserts and ice cream; chilled and frozen drinks; grab-and-go food; and branded equipment linked to the included food brands. The procurement is categorised as food, beverages and related products, and is divided between Patient Feeding Solutions and Café Retail Feeding Concepts. The buyer is Supply Chain Coordination Limited.

This procurement has been awarded through a selective call-off from a dynamic purchasing system. The award date was 24 November 2025, and the selected supplier is Anchor Catering Ltd. The award value is £78,831,476. The award description covers patient and retail feeding for North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust and Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. The stated contract period runs from 21 September 2030 to 30 September 2030. The wider DPS is intended to remain in place for at least seven years, with a stated minimum application date of 20 September 2030. Applicants could apply for either or both product categories and had to pass all mandatory criteria in the DPS award process. SMEs and VCSEs were considered suitable.

This award shows established NHS demand for a broad food-to-go supply capability spanning both patient feeding and café retail operations. Relevant suppliers would need to provide a dependable range of chilled, frozen and ambient food products, including sandwiches, salads, fillings, bakery products, hot and street food, desserts, drinks and snack pots. The requirement also encompasses branded equipment associated with included food brands, so suppliers able to coordinate equipment with food supply may be well placed. Credible competitors should be able to meet mandatory DPS criteria, support NHS Trust requirements across multiple product categories, and operate at substantial framework scale. The procurement was identified as suitable for SMEs and VCSEs, with Anchor Catering Ltd demonstrating that an SME can participate successfully.
