Summary of the contracting process

Durham County Council is overseeing the procurement process for the "Provision of Traffic Management" project, which falls under the services industry category and is located in the North East region of the United Kingdom. This tender is currently at the award stage, with a contract valued at £15 million awarded on 6th March 2018, and the contract period running from 1st April 2018 to 31st March 2022. The procurement was conducted using a selective method and targeted seven qualifying bidders, splitting requirements into three distinct lots: Traffic Management, Planned Road Closures, and Events Management.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses focused on traffic management services, particularly those capable of providing illuminated traffic signs, traffic lights, and traffic-calming works. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will find this opportunity particularly appealing, as the Council intends to award positions on the framework to up to five suppliers per lot. This framework opens avenues for SMEs and larger companies alike to engage in public sector projects, potentially leading to significant contracts in the growing field of traffic and transport services.
