Contract Summary
The client, the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), is seeking to increase the number of AP bed spaces to support the prison reform programme and respond to the parole board policy which is leading to an increased dependence on APs. Trent House, Nottingham has been identified by the NPS Board as a priority in their NPS APs Expansion Programme. After consultation with stakeholders, the MoJ have confirmed the need for a fit-for-purpose refurbishment & 2-storey extension that provides a safe living space for rehabilitation but also ensures the safety and security of staff and residents. This includes provision for ancillary facilities such as storage, leisure / living rooms, bathrooms, and laundry. This project will provide an additional net gain of 15 bed spaces including 2 DDA compliant bedrooms. This is equivalent to (up to) 120 high risk offenders in a community over a year. A constructor has been appointed for the design and build of the project from the MoJ Constructor Services Framework. This is a two stage Design and Build Contract let under the PPC2000 (Amended 2013) Form of contract. It is expected that the total construction cost of the project will be c£6.9m.
