Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process involves the University of the West of England (UWE), which has awarded a contract titled "039/2018FC Provision of an Autoclave & Associated Services." This contract belongs to the services industry and is specifically related to autoclaves, with the procurement method being a selective procedure. The contract period commenced on 15th March 2019 and concluded on 16th March 2019, while the last date for tender submissions was 1st March 2019. The delivery is set for the location in Bristol, UK, with a requirement for the successful supplier to install and commission the new equipment by 30th June 2019.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for companies involved in laboratory equipment supply and installation, particularly those dealing with autoclaves and associated services. Businesses that specialise in biohazard waste disposal equipment, service contracts, and installation logistics would find this procurement ideal for competition. After the award, suppliers can also explore potential future contracts with UWE, as they may seek ongoing service and maintenance for the new autoclave unit.

Notice Title

039/2018FC Provision of an Autoclave & Associated Services - AWARD

Notice Description

UWE requires an autoclave to replace an existing Astell, model number ASB301. The autoclave is used for general laboratory biohazard waste disposal (fluids, plastics, agar plates, soil etc.). There is currently mains water supply, 3 phase (63amp) electrical power, drainage and a separate blowdown unit. Footprint of existing autoclave is 900mm by 1500mm with approximately 300mm clearance all round. We would require a machine to operate at better performance than the current Astell. Please provide information on typical run times in comparison to the outgoing unit. We need to achieve a minimum sterilisation of 121 degrees for 15 minutes. Increasing the temperature to reduce the run time would be a preferred option for all loads. We would consider options that achieve equivalent or faster run cycles. We require the removal and disposal of our old Astell autoclave as well as delivery installation and commissioning of the new instrument. We will also be requiring options for warranty and servicing. The autoclave and ancillaries must be delivered and installed and commissioned by 30th June 2019, with invoicing to be received by UWE and dated no later than 31st July 2019.
