Notice Title
Supply and install a footbridge across the River Wye close to Millers Dale - Chee Dale Footbridge
Notice Description
Cheedale footbridge is a timber beam bridge spanning the River Wye, the bridge sits below the Cheedale Viaduct just off the Monsal trail. Access to the bridge is via the Monsal trail down the steep embankment (footpath) towards the River Wye. The Timber footbridge spans the river sitting on a stone built abutment either side which is in need of some repair works. The bridge is currently shut off for use as it is deemed unsafe. The Authority wishes to replace the existing timber footbridge, Cheedale Bridge, just off the Monsal trail. Proposed Bridge works to include: * Removal of the existing footbridge * Replace damaged, defected and missing stonework to the abutments, steps and plinths. * Rake out defective and missing mortar joints to the abutments, steps and plinths and repoint. * Install a new footbridge similar to existing with an anti-slip deck and fully compliant with current legislation. Note: The contractor is to complete all load calculations as recommended by the British Standards to ensure the existing plinth can take the new load of the bridge. * Install new handrail and fencing where necessary to ensure the footbridge, steps and surrounding embankment on the approach to the bridge is compliant exceeding the minimum standards set by the British Standard Institute. A full tender pack including details of the scope and location of the works alongside a specification of works can be obtained once an expression of interest is received by emailing catherine.johnson@peakdistrict.gov.uk and requesting the tender pack reference 'Chee Dale Foot Bridge'.
