Summary of the contracting process

Bedford Borough Council is conducting the Holiday Activities & Food Programme 2021 procurement process, focused on delivering enriching activities and healthy meals for children aged 5-17 eligible for Free School Meals in the Borough. The procurement classified under "Holiday centre services" is currently at the Award stage, having been published on 8 March 2022, following a successful completion of the tender period which ended on 8 June 2021. The contract, valued at £50,000, is set to commence on 28 June 2021 and will run until 30 June 2022.

This tender presents significant opportunities for local organisations, particularly those experienced in providing engaging, face-to-face activities for young people. Businesses such as community centres, educational service providers, and organisations specialising in child welfare could greatly benefit from joining the Approved Provider List (APL). The program is designed to enhance the quality of holiday experiences for vulnerable children, making it ideal for suppliers with the capability to scale their existing services or deliver bespoke schemes tailored to the programme's outcomes.

Notice Title

Holiday Activities & Food Programme 2021 - AWARD

Notice Description

Bedford Borough Council ('the Council') has received government funding to deliver the Holiday Activities and Food Programme (HAF) for children and young people in the Borough who are aged 5-17, are a resident of Bedford Borough and who are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM). The Council wishes to commission a number of local organisations to join an Approved Provider List (APL), which will aim to deliver a programme of face-to-face activities and healthy meals for vulnerable children over the school summer and Christmas holidays of 2021. Suppliers wishing to be accepted onto the APL should be experienced in delivering face-to-face, fun, enriching activities to children and young people. It would be helpful for Suppliers to have existing provision in place that can be expanded upon to deliver against the outcomes specified, but the Council will consider proposals of bespoke schemes if these meet the required criteria.
