Summary of the contracting process

Supply Chain Coordination Limited procured food-to-go products for NHS Supply Chain: Food’s NHS customer base, using the DPS as the main route for NHS Trust requirements. The scope covers patient-feeding sandwiches, salads and snack pots; retail sandwiches, salads and sandwich fillings; cakes, street food, pies, pastries and pizza; frozen desserts and ice cream; chilled and frozen drinks; grab-and-go food; and branded equipment linked to included food brands. The two product categories are Patient Feeding Solutions and Café Retail Feeding Concepts. The awarded requirement covers patient and retail feeding for Norfolk Collaboration, involving Norfolk & Suffolk NHS Foundation Care and Norfolk Community Health & Care NHS Trust, and for George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust. Delivery covers the United Kingdom and other stated territories and regions.

This procurement has been awarded and is complete. It used a selective call-off from a dynamic purchasing system. The award date was 24 November 2025, to Tiffin Sandwiches Ltd, covering both named NHS customer requirements. The awarded value is £78,831,476 GBP. The contract period recorded runs from 21 September 2030 to 30 September 2030; the tender data warns that the recorded dates do not represent the actual DPS contract dates. The wider DPS has a minimum duration of seven years, with an approximate spend of £78,831,476 GBP, and applications are scheduled to remain open until 20 September 2030. Suppliers could apply for either or both categories and had to pass all mandatory criteria for the categories selected. The opportunity is suitable for SMEs and VCSEs.

This award demonstrates established NHS demand for dependable food-to-go supply across both patient feeding and retail catering environments. A credible future competitor would need to manufacture or source a broad range of chilled, frozen and ambient food-to-go products, including sandwiches, salads, fillings, snacks, bakery items, hot or street-food products, desserts, drinks and branded equipment where relevant. Capability should extend beyond individual products to consistent supply for NHS Trust customers, reliable distribution and service across multiple care and retail settings, and compliance with every mandatory requirement for the chosen category. SMEs and VCSEs are identified as suitable participants, while the selective DPS route means suppliers must be able to qualify for the relevant product category before competing for customer requirements.
