Summary of the contracting process

The Cambridge City Council is currently conducting an open tender for the establishment of a Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) for Construction Trades. This initiative is aimed at maintaining the Council's extensive portfolio of public and operational buildings and housing in the East of England. The tender was published on 19th January 2018, with a closing date for submissions set for 29th December 2023. The total value of the procurement is £10 million, and the contract period will commence from 30th December 2023 until 31st December 2023. This procurement process is classified under the CPV code 45000000, which pertains to construction work.

This tender presents significant opportunities for construction-related businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that are capable of providing quick and efficient services without subcontracting key elements of the work. This DPS allows suppliers to be part of a modern procurement framework, potentially leading to ongoing contracts as new projects emerge. Companies in the construction trades, such as electrical work, plumbing, and general maintenance, would find this procurement attractive, provided they can meet the Council's standards and demonstrate their capability to deliver cost-effective services.

Notice Title

DPS for Construction Trades

Notice Description

The Council owns or works on an extensive portfolio of public & operational buildings, as well as housing which needs to be maintained. Although the Council has an in-house team of construction operatives, there are times where we need to supplement this. The Council is seeking to establish a DPS (modern day approved list) of suppliers who are able to respond quickly and deliver an excellent, cost effective service. The DPS is split into a number of Lots. This contract does NOT permit subcontracting of the key element e.g. Lot one suppliers cannot subcontract of the key element of the lot - e.g. electrical work. Any subcontracting that is required must be with written approval. Additional information: To apply for this DPS please search for it on the Procontract e-tendering portal under ref. DN306506. Submit an SSQ online to be accepted onto DPS and be informed when work becomes available.
