Summary of the contracting process

The Wakefield Council Customer Service is initiating a tender process for the "Night Marshals Service," aimed at providing marshals to patrol Wakefield City Centre during night hours. This service is crucial for ensuring public safety and addressing issues within the night-time economy, such as conflict management and support for vulnerable individuals. The open procurement method allows various suppliers to participate, with the tender period closing on 6th March 2018. The contract is anticipated to begin on 1st April 2018 and end on 31st March 2021. The service falls under the public security, law, and order services category and will be delivered in the Yorkshire and the Humber region.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in security services and community support. Companies focused on providing trained personnel for public safety, particularly those familiar with nightlife dynamics, will be well-suited to compete. Additionally, this contract may be especially appealing to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community and social enterprises (VCSEs) seeking to expand their service offerings within local government contracts. The flexibility within the contract also allows for adaptations to meet changing needs, offering room for innovative approaches to service delivery.
