Summary of the contracting process

West Lancashire Borough Council is inviting tenders for the "Ormskirk rail to bus stations cycle works" project, which aims to upgrade an existing footpath into a shared cycle way that enhances access between the bus and rail stations in Ormskirk, North West England. The procurement is currently at the award stage, with the project having been noted for its required commencement before 1st November 2019 and completion by 24th December 2019. The maximum budget for this project is £85,000 (excluding VAT), with a submission deadline for tenders set for 30th September 2019 at 2:00 PM. This offer falls under the construction work sector, and tender documents are accessible via 'The Chest'.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for construction firms, particularly those with experience in public works and road/pathway construction, to expand their business within the public sector. Businesses specialising in landscaping, surfacing materials, and outdoor infrastructure would particularly benefit from competing for this contract. The emphasis on quality and pricing in the evaluation criteria (60% price and 40% quality) highlights a competitive yet potentially rewarding avenue for small to medium-sized enterprises looking to establish their footprint in local government projects.
