Summary of the contracting process

The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) is seeking submissions for a Request for Quote (RFQ) for two ultra-stable RF oscillators, intended for use in providing reference signals for a microwave synthesiser related to a caesium fountain atomic clock. This procurement falls under the category of laboratory, optical, and precision equipment and is being conducted via a direct procurement method under the single tender action process, which is below threshold. The tender period ends on 25th June 2020, while the contract is expected to commence on 3rd August 2020 and conclude by 31st December 2020. Interested suppliers must register on the LUPC Bravo e-Tendering portal to submit their bids.

This tender presents a valuable opportunity for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary community and social enterprises (VCSEs) in the precision and laboratory equipment sector. Businesses with expertise in the production or supply of high-precision instruments should consider competing for this contract, as the straightforward nature of the procurement method may facilitate a relatively accessible bidding process. Suppliers that are adept at navigating e-tendering systems will find this opportunity particularly advantageous, allowing them to potentially establish or expand their foothold in public sector supply chains.
