Notice Description

Project Description: The existing University of Sheffield Chemistry Department comprises of five buildings: Chemistry North, Chemistry Northeast, Chemistry West, Dainton and Richard Roberts, all of which are interconnected. The scope of Chemistry Phase 1 works includes Chemistry Northeast (renovation of external envelope and full internal refurbishment), Richard Roberts (re-cladding of facade, internal refurbishment of C and D floor) and Dainton (internal refurbishment of reception area). Chemistry Northeast is to undergo an internal strip out, followed by creation of new research laboratories, associated ancillary spaces and write-up space. The external envelope is to be restored and upgraded to meet with the University's SBS (Sustainable Building Standard) requirements. Richard Roberts C-Floor will have an internal refurbishment of existing offices. D-Floor will undergo a partial strip out of existing PGR space to create new open plan PGR space, welfare spaces, storage, and lockers. Existing Portland stone cladding is to be removed and reclad along with thermal upgrades to meet with the University's SBS requirements. Dainton reception area (C-Floor) is to undergo a strip out of existing WCs and office spaces, to create a new entrance area and reception, WC facilities and office space. Procurement Route: The current intended procurement route for this project is via a single stage JCT D&B contract although this is to be confirmed. The tender is scheduled for issue in July 2024 for a 12-week period. The final appointment will be made in Nov 24. Project Values: Estimated Construction Value - PS12m exc. VAT.
