Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) in the United Kingdom is currently seeking tenders for the replacement of Deployed Force Radiation Detection Monitoring Equipment (DFRDME), crucial for nuclear, biological, chemical, and radiological protection. This procurement, categorised under goods, is at the tender stage and is expected to conclude on 23 November 2020. The contract is valued between £6 million and £8 million, with the contract period running from 30 June 2021 to 30 June 2026, and delivery is required in the South West region of England.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the defence and protective equipment sector, particularly those with capabilities in providing commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions that can withstand military operational environments. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) may find this an advantageous opportunity to expand their market presence, especially those specialising in radiation detection and monitoring technologies, as no modifications to COTS items will be considered. Businesses well-versed in innovative technological solutions aligned with military specifications would be particularly well-suited to compete in this tender process.
