Summary of the contracting process

The Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office is planning the procurement of 'WAJIBIKA', a programme aimed at supporting civil society and media organisations in Tanzania to promote openness and accountability. The programme, led by FCDO and co-designed by SDC, focuses on convening, catalysing, and influencing activities. Key milestones include an engagement end date on 5th May 2023. The procurement stage is 'Planning', and the industry category is 'Foreign economic-aid-related services'. The delivery addresses include various locations worldwide, including British Oversea Territories and United Kingdom.

'WAJIBIKA' offers opportunities for SMEs and voluntary and community sector enterprises to participate. The programme presents a chance to collaborate with civil society and media actors, receive grants for various activities, and influence decision makers. Interested parties can register for an Early Market Engagement event scheduled for 5th May 2023 to learn more about the programme and access draft documents via the FCDO eSourcing portal.

Notice Title

WAJIBIKA

Notice Description

Wajibika is a six-year programme that aims to help civil society and media organisations better fulfil their role as drivers of a more open and accountable society in Tanzania. Wajibika is an action-oriented Swahili word meaning to 'take action, be accountable, be responsible'. It will support civil society and media organisations to roll back restrictions on civic space and media freedom, and build stronger working relationships amongst themselves, with government, and with the citizens that they aim to represent. Wajibika will apply a flexible and adaptive approach focusing on convening, catalysing and influencing. It will convene civil society and media actors around specific issues, encouraging collaborative working, knowledge sharing and effective monitoring and evaluation. It will catalyse their work through the provision of grants, for example for research, capacity building and advocacy. It will seek to influence elite decision makers both on specific issues and in support of a wider 'development bargain' that is responsive to the wider needs of citizens. Wajibika is led by the FCDO and co-designed/funded by the Swiss Development Corporation (SDC) Additional information: This is a Prior Information Notice and not a call for competition or tender. This information notice is to highlight the opportunity to join an Early Market Engagement (EME) event. The EME is scheduled to take place virtually on Friday 5th May @ 09:00 - 11:30 British Summer Time / 11:00 - 13:30 East Africa Time. Please register to attend the EME via the link provided. To access the draft programme documents and receive any further messages, register on the FCDO eSourcing portal via the link provided and access the WAJIBIKA PQQ. Registering on the PQQ WILL NOT register you for the EME - these are separate systems and registration processes.
