Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence is planning to procure an Industrial 3D Computed Tomography Scanner to meet its requirements at the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, located in Porton Down, Salisbury, England. Key milestones indicate that the engagement end date is set for 11th February 2022. The procurement process, categorised under CT scanners, is currently at the planning stage, with indicative dates for issuing the Find a Tender Notice and Contracts Notice in March 2022, followed by pre-qualification submissions in late April to early May 2022, and the issue of Invitations to Tender in early to mid-June 2022.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), that offer specialised equipment and services related to medical imaging and radiation safety. Firms providing delivery, installation, maintenance, and training for industrial equipment, particularly those experienced in meeting UK Regulations, would be well-suited to compete for this contract. Companies interested in this procurement should prepare to showcase their capabilities in producing volumetric data using advanced scanning technologies, as this will form a critical part of the assessment during the tendering phases.
