Summary of the contracting process

The University of Salford is currently conducting a tender for an "Access Platform" to support the construction of the Energy House 2 (EH2), a state-of-the-art building physics test laboratory in Salford, England. This project, partly funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), has a total contract value of £10,000 and is classified under the CPV code for access platforms. The procurement method chosen is an open procedure, with the tender period closing on 19 October 2020. The contract is set to commence on 1 November 2020 and will run for one year until 31 October 2021.

This tender presents significant opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) involved in construction and engineering services, particularly those with expertise in developing elevated platform systems. Bidders will need to demonstrate their capability to deliver a working platform at a height of 12 metres, and provide a full specification, delivery, handover, and warranty. Companies that can ensure safe operation procedures and on-site repairs are especially well-suited to compete for this contract, which is part of an innovative project aiming to enhance building testing facilities.
