Summary of the contracting process

The University of Leeds has recently completed a public procurement process for the provision of a drop shape tensiometer to enhance the capabilities of its School of Food Science and Nutrition within the Faculty of Mathematics and Physical Sciences. This procurement, classified under the CPV category for tensiometers, followed an open procedure and concluded with the award on 2nd December 2016. The contract period runs from 23rd December 2016 to 23rd December 2017, with the delivery taking place in West Yorkshire, United Kingdom.

This procurement presents substantial growth opportunities for businesses involved in manufacturing laboratory instruments, particularly those that specialise in measurement and control systems. Companies that can deliver a user-friendly, versatile tensiometer with compatible data export capabilities will find themselves well-positioned to compete. Technical expertise in training users on the operation and maintenance of such equipment will also be crucial, making it an attractive tender for suppliers in the scientific instrument sector.

Notice Title

F/2699 - Drop Shape Tensiometer - AWARD

Notice Description

The School of Food Science and Nutrition which is part of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physical Sciences at the University of Leeds, undertakes a diverse range of fundamental scientific principles to addressing issues of food quality with collaborators across the university campus, external institutions and organisations. It is seeking tenders for a drop shape tensiometer to complement the facilities offered within its soft matter research. The control and data acquisition system must be versatile and straightforward to use. The data generated must be exportable in standard formats for analysis using other proprietary software, such as Matlab, LabView or Excel etc. The tensiometer will be primarily used by dedicated academic technical staff, postdoctoral researchers, PhD student and project students. Such a group will possess a range of expertise and so it is important that the system has an intuitive interface and that it is inherently easy to use. The dedicated technical staff and postdocs will require training to a level at which they are able to provide basic instruction to new users (including change of samples, calibration, setting up of new measurement sequences)
