Notice Description

The project aims to provide meaningful social roles for children, parents and older adults, to encourage older adults to utilise and share their experience and skills. The transmission of knowledge and skills from one generation to another will empower older adults to take an active part in their community. The project aims to empower residents and communities to play a more active role in improving their neighbourhood, enabling early intervention and prevention, reducing loneliness and isolation. The sessions' are to encourage children and families to be more resourceful, counteracting the 'throwaway culture'. The project assists LCC in meeting the requirements of the Social Value Act 2012 (as stated below). The Act requires public bodies to have due regard to economic, social and environmental wellbeing, in connection with public service contracts. The objectives in summary are: * To provide meaningful social roles for children, parents and older adults, meeting Social Values. * To encourage older adults to utilise their experience and skills, meeting Social Values. * Improve children's social and emotional development, meeting Social Values. * Help forge strong school/parent partnerships, meeting Social Values. * Boost children's listening and attention, receptive language and social communication, meeting Social Values. * Improve general school readiness for younger people, meeting Social Values. * The transmission of knowledge and skills from one generation to another, meeting Social Values. * Empower older adults to take an active part in their local community, meeting Social Values. * Improve community cohesion and mutual respect with older members engaging with younger members of their community, meeting Social Values. * Prevent loneliness, meeting Social Values.
