Summary of the contracting process

The University of Salford is initiating a tender for the "Solar Radiation System," which is part of the Energy House 2 project in Salford, England. This project, classified under the CPV code 38126200, aims to establish a state-of-the-art building physics test laboratory, with construction expected to start in November 2020 and conclude by October 2021. The tender period closes on 19th October 2020, with a budget allocation of £30,000. The procurement method is open, specifically designed for contracts below threshold.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for businesses specialising in solar energy systems and related technologies. Companies that can demonstrate expertise in developing solar radiation surface observing apparatus, or that have innovative solutions for climate-controlled testing environments, would be well-positioned to compete. The project not only aims to enhance testing capabilities but also offers a collaborative platform that could lead to future projects in energy efficiency and sustainable building practices.

Solar Radiation System

Notice Description

Energy House 2 (EH2) is a large-scale building physics test laboratory to be built at the University of Salford Manchester. The project Is part funded by the ERDF. The construction will begin in summer 2020 with the construction period set to last 12 months. The project builds on the successful Energy House project :(https://www.salford.ac.uk/built-environment/laboratories-and-studios/energyhouse ). A video of the project can be found here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oP3bsXeQKYU EH2 will be a unique facility and one of most advanced building test facilities on the planet. It has the following features: * 2 large chambers capable of having 2 family homes built in each one (4 homes in total) * Temperature controlled to within 0.5 degC from -20degC to +40 degC * Wind, rain, solar radiation and snow can be generated * These conditions provide testing facilities for housing covering 95% of the global population. The Energy House 2 Project has a requirement to solar irradiation in a large chamber environment to accomplish the following: * To provide heat gain to the facades of the test houses, this should include low "winter" and high "summer" levels and anywhere in between. * To provide heat gain inside the test houses, this will generally happen through the windows of the property and at a slower rate through the building fabric, the ability of the irradiation system to demonstrate an ability to penetrate glazing should be given in your proposal * To provide a drying effect following rainfall in the chamber to assist in the generation of an evaporative cooling effect * The system will NOT be used to replicate solar "light" only heat, however if your proposal can offer this then please provide details * The system will NOT be used to generate input for PV cells.
