Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process for "Improving Democratic Education," spearheaded by The Electoral Commission, encompasses a multifaceted initiative aimed at enhancing citizenship and political education in the UK. The Northern Ireland Youth Forum has been identified as a key supplier within this process. Classified under the Education and Training Services category and centred in London (postcode EC1Y 8YZ), the tender followed a selective procurement approach, specifically calling off from a framework agreement. The tender period concluded on 31st October 2025, with the active contract set to commence from 1st November 2025 and run through to 31st March 2028. Notable funding includes a maximum budget of £746,000 for the initial year, extending up to £3.3 million over the potential five-year span.

This tender opens substantial avenues for growth for businesses actively engaging in educational services and training, particularly small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary community sector enterprises (VCSEs). Businesses with expertise in delivering democratic and citizenship education can leverage this opportunity to showcase innovative educational methods and support youth understanding of participation and equality in democracy. The framework agreement structure offers flexibility for multiple suppliers across various Lots, thereby accommodating a range of educational delivery styles and expanding their market impact within the UK educational landscape.
