Summary of the contracting process

The Science Museum Group, located in London, has completed a public procurement process for the "Our Future Planet Summative Evaluation." This project involved hiring a consultant to evaluate a free exhibition that ran from May 2021 to September 2022, focusing on the effectiveness of the exhibition in conveying its message about climate change. The procurement process initiated through an open procedure and concluded with an award date on 8 March 2022. The contract, valued at £10,000, began on 23 February 2022 and was completed by 7 June 2022.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for consultancy firms specialising in research, evaluation, and development services related to climate change and science communication. Businesses that can demonstrate expertise in summative evaluation methodologies, particularly those with experience working in the cultural or educational sectors, would be well-positioned to compete for similar contracts in the future. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to engage, particularly those within the UK, as such opportunities may not only enhance their portfolios but also contribute to the dialogue surrounding sustainability and climate awareness.

Notice Title

Our Future Planet Summative Evaluation - AWARD

Notice Description

Our Future Planet is a free exhibition at the Science Museum in London open between May 2021 and September 2022. It explores the technologies being developed to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The exhibition is located in the 'Tomorrow's World' section of the Wellcome Wing on the ground floor of the museum and is not ticketed. The museum wishes to appoint a consultant to undertake a summative evaluation of the exhibition to understand how successful it was in meeting its aims and learning outcomes, as well as to explore visitors' response to the exhibition environment, content, interpretation and topic of the climate crisis. Lessons learned from the evaluation will be applied to future exhibitions and galleries developed by the Science Museum Group, particularly those focussing on contemporary science and the climate crisis.
