Quotation for Employment Land Study - Consultancy Services
Notice Description
The Borough Council of Bolton's (the "Council") Economic Strategy 2016-2030 sees the Bolton of the future as vibrant, strong, productive, resilient, and hard working. Bolton is already the Manchester city region's second largest employment centre. Private investment in Bolton is forecast to continue, and it is expected to generate at least a further PS1 billion of investment and 11,000 additional jobs in Bolton over the period from now to 2030, with GVA exceeding PS6bn by 2030. However, unemployment levels are currently high mainly due to the recent decline in high street retail, leisure sector and the evening economy. This has been exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic. The June claimant count shows that 7.9% of the population in Bolton is currently claiming Job seekers allowance which is higher than Greater Manchester (7.1%), the North West (6.1%) and UK (5,6%). There is a need to connect our residents to opportunities for employment, in order to address poverty, inequality and deprivation - a foothold on the job ladder, or developing skills leading to better paid work. The Council is working on a Skills Strategy that will assist in improving skills and knowledge of our residents and therefore secure the workforce required by employers in Bolton. The purpose of this brief is to provide the evidence base for the employment land policies and proposals for Bolton. Further details are available once you have registered an interest
