Summary of the contracting process

The NHS South of England Procurement Services, representing Health Education England, initiated a tender process for the Clinically Enhanced Pharmacist Independent Prescribing (CEPIP) Programme aimed at the London and South East regions. This procurement, now halted as of 24 October 2017, sought to deliver an advanced training programme for pharmacists, with a total contract value of up to £1,560,000 over three years. The deadline for initial tender submissions was set for 22 September 2017, but the process has since shifted to a market engagement phase, with an event scheduled for 1 November 2017 to discuss specifications and requirements with potential providers.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses operating in the healthcare training and education sector, particularly those specialising in pharmacy and clinical health services. Companies with capabilities in delivering accredited training programmes, especially for pharmacists and multi-skilled clinicians in both NHS and community settings, would be well-suited to compete. The initiative aims to enhance clinical skills, improve patient care, and address pressing needs within the healthcare system, making it a valuable prospect for SMEs and voluntary community sector enterprises with relevant expertise.
