Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence, based in Bristol, is overseeing a procurement process for the Challenger Armoured Repair and Recovery Vehicle (CRARRV) Brake Light System Development. The tender is actively in the 'Tender' stage with a closing date on 29th September 2025. Classified under the industry category for electronic and electrical spare parts for military vehicles, this contract focuses on modifying the CRARRV platform to include new brake light systems. It has an estimated value of £1,660,636.94. The procurement follows a limited negotiated procedure without prior publication due to technical reasons, as Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land Limited (RBSL) is the original equipment manufacturer and this process ensures the continued capability and safety of the platform.

This tender offers significant business growth opportunities for businesses with expertise in developing and supplying military vehicle components, particularly in the niche of platform modification and installation. Companies with existing ties to the defence sector or those possessing the necessary technical know-how to handle bespoke military equipment will find this contract particularly appealing. As RBSL is already identified as a potential contractor due to its unique position and knowledge of the platform technical data, businesses aiming to partner or subcontract with RBSL may benefit from involvement in this procurement.
