Notice Description

Hackney Council is seeking quotations for the supply of artistic direction services to manage the development and delivery of Hackney Carnival programming for 2023. Due to limited funds, the Council is not planning to deliver a street carnival in 2023 and instead will deliver a programme of activities that support the borough's carnival groups, engages the community and keeps the traditions of Hackney Carnival alive until the street carnival returns in 2024. The Artistic Director role requires leadership and coordination of the local carnival sector, specifically the Carnival Bands Stakeholder Group which consists of 18 carnival groups with long-term involvement. Applicants should have experience in curating festivals or events and a good understanding of the history of Hackney and Hackney Carnival.
