Summary of the contracting process

Derby City Council has completed a public procurement process titled "TD1429 - Provision of Vehicle Charging Infrastructure" within the transport equipment industry. This initiative involves a selective procurement method, operating under a framework agreement for the purchase of electric vehicle charging solutions. The awarded contract, valued at £800,000, aims to fully install, service, and maintain rapid electric vehicle charging points specifically for hackney carriages. The contract has a duration starting from 2nd September 2019 and extends until 1st September 2025, with the possibility of annual extensions, contingent on budget approval.

This procurement presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in the electric vehicle charging sector, particularly those specialising in the supply and installation of such infrastructure. Companies that provide energy solutions, maintenance services, or technology for electric vehicle networks would be well-suited to engage in similar future tenders, especially as local authorities strive to enhance air quality and comply with emissions regulations. This aligns with the trends of increasing electric vehicle adoption, making it a vital area for business growth.
