Summary of the contracting process

The Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority (MWDA) has initiated a tender process titled "LCR Primary School Waste Education Project". This procurement falls under the "services" category, specifically focusing on primary education services within the education and training sector, and targets youth education services in the North West region of the United Kingdom. The tender is currently in the active stage with an open procedure method, set below the procurement threshold. Interested parties must submit proposals by 26th August 2025. The contract, upon award, will begin on 19th September 2025 and will run through to 31st March 2027. This initiative forms part of MWDA's commitment to zero waste and net zero carbon targets, by educating primary school pupils aged 5-11 in the Liverpool City Region about waste management, circular economy, and climate change.

This tender presents an exciting opportunity for businesses involved in educational services and community engagement, especially those focusing on sustainability and environmental education. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) are considered suitable candidates to bid for this project. The procurement offers potential growth opportunities for businesses capable of delivering innovative educational projects that align with the strategic goals of behavioural change towards waste reduction and resource conservation. Responding to this tender could enhance a company's portfolio and expand its reach in the North West educational sector by influencing environmental awareness and action among young students.

Notice Title

LCR PRIMARY SCHOOL WASTE EDUCATION PROJECT

Notice Description

Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority (MWDA) is a statutory waste disposal authority which, with its District Council partners, takes a lead in advocating and delivering recycling, waste prevention, and the safe and effective disposal of household waste for the residents of Merseyside and Halton (together, the 'Liverpool City Region'). MRWA is committed to achieving the targets of zero waste and net zero carbon, to achieve these targets we believe a whole systems change is needed. This involves changing behaviours and attitudes away from single use, throw away consumerism towards a culture of reuse, repair and avoiding waste where possible. A key aspect of behaviour change is education, and studies show that information delivered academically, culturally and in communities has more benefits and provides long-term changes to behaviours. MWDA is looking to commission an organisation to run a primary school waste education project for pupils aged 5-11 across Liverpool City Region. The education project will focus on engaging with primary aged pupils across the Liverpool City Region to introduce the concept of zero waste, circular economy and climate change to encourage a positive shift in waste and resource behaviours from a young age.
