Notice Title

DInfoCom/0147 - Provision of CADUCEUS Royal Signals Up-Skilling

Notice Description

A major restructuring of R SIGNALS Career Employment Groups (CEG) has been underway for several years. The aim of restructuring is to focus the deployable skills and career structures of the R SIGNALS to work more effectively in the new IT era. The new structures will replace all legacy CEGs starting from April 2020. The new CEG roles will realign technical skills to meet new realities and requirements and align to the levels where these deployable technical skills are required. Leadership skills within the new CEGs will also be revised to better manage and lead individuals and teams operationally Technical skills (and therefore standards) are defined by the current technology (hardware) and processes (software and best practice). Within the industry environment these technical skills are met through technical training courses and are often recognised through qualification. Civilian professionals in the sector are frequently required to demonstrate competence through their portfolio of qualifications. In the development of Role Performance Standards for the new CEG the R SIGNALS TDT on behalf of Pj CADUCEUS has in part used the industry technical standards as a benchmark to identify and categorise technical capability. Steady State Training (SST) will commence incrementally from April 2020 and will not be in full delivery until 2028. This will leave a cohort of current serving personnel which will require up-skilling to meet the new standards for the roles they will occupy initially, and for those that they may move into, before they merge back into SST as it is incrementally delivered. Over a delivery period of 5 years, upskilling will close the knowledge and skills gap left through this change and provide blended learning opportunities and where appropriate remove the requirement to attend residential courses. The training packages offered will be available to all R SIGNALS Sig to Sgt and will differ for the legacy CEGs, allowing for class of trade, prior learning and current SQEP. SSgt to WO1 and Officers are not within scope of this upskilling package and will be captured under separate work strands within Pj CADUCEUS. The D Info CADUCEUS team has a requirement for the management and provision of the learning and development that will upskill current R SIGNALS and QG SIGNALS personnel in legacy trade groups to the new standards defined within the new trade groups and their respective learning pipeline. This will support the Masters of Signals Vision and Intent; it will ensure all R SIGNALS personnel in the Fd Army are appropriately trained to the new standards and provided with the career development opportunities available under the CADUCEUS R SIGNALS Career Model 2020.
