Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence is seeking to procure "Chinook Unique Cabling and Associated Spares" through a limited negotiation procedure without prior publication. This procurement falls under the category of "Parts for aircraft, spacecraft and helicopters" (CPV code 34730000) and is located in the South West region of the United Kingdom. The contract, valued at £1,615,687.20, commenced on 3rd December 2020 and is set to conclude on 31st March 2024. The tender period ended on 19th May 2020, and this project is currently in the award stage, having been announced as complete on 23rd August 2021.

This tender presents significant opportunities for companies in the aerospace and defence sectors, particularly those that specialise in providing essential components for military aircraft. Given the critical nature of the items involved, particularly the bespoke design of cabling and spares initially by TT Electronics, businesses specialising in high-precision electronic manufacturing and aerospace components would be well-suited to compete. There is also potential for collaboration with SMEs that can leverage their unique capabilities in niche manufacturing to meet stringent airworthiness requirements.

Notice Title

CHC/633 Chinook Unique Cabling and Associated Spares

Notice Description

CONTRACT AWARD NOTICE. Provision of Chinook Unique Cabling and Associated Spares in accordance with the drawings/specifications of the Aircraft. The unique aircraft cabling and spares were previously designed and manufactured by TT Electronics-IMS. No other economic operator outside the Contractor's group would be able to source and provide the items required under the contract in a manner that meets its requirements. Alternative provision would directly and adversely impact on Chinook airworthiness causing an unacceptable air safety risk.
