Notice Title

Provision of interventions as part of an Out of Court Disposal

Notice Description

The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) seeks to understand through this Notice, the market's interest in, and the options available for, the delivery of a number of interventions that can be made available to offenders as part of an Out of Court Disposal (OoCD) across Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton. Additional information: The PCC seeks to understand the market's interest in, and options available for the delivery of a number of interventions that can be made available to offenders as part of an Out of Court Disposal (OoCD). This will support police officers in directing offenders to specific interventions, allowing the police to deal quickly and proportionately with low level, often first-time offending which do not merit prosecution at court. This form of disposal allows the police to spend more time on front-line policing and avoids time and cost often involved in taking unnecessary and undisputed matters through the court system. OoCDs also support an evidence base, where if used appropriately can be more effective than traditional criminal justice sanctions in reducing re-offending. The types of intervention identified are described in the attached document entitled "Out of Court Disposals - Additional Information".
