Summary of the contracting process

The South Downs National Park Authority has completed a procurement process for a feasibility study on a sustainable drainage solution for the South Downs Way in Kings Ride, Alfriston. The project focuses on the repair and improvement of a section of this 100-mile national trail. The tender falls under the category of drainage systems, specifically addressing a feasibility study, and was executed via an open procedure. Key dates include the tender period ending on 5 January 2024 and the contract period ranging from 21 January 2024 to 31 March 2024. The awarded contract, valued at £12,945, was given to Meridian Civil Engineering Consultancy Ltd.

This procurement provides a substantial opportunity for businesses operating in civil engineering, especially those with expertise in sustainable drainage solutions and feasibility studies. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) would be particularly well-suited to compete for similar tenders, given that sustainability in public infrastructure projects is an area poised for growth. Notice Title

Feasibility Study - Sustainable Drainage Solution, South Downs Way, Kings Ride, Alfriston - AWARD

Notice Description

The South Downs Way National Trail is a 100 mile long-distance path that spans the entire length of the South Downs National Park. It is a mainly off-road route that is comprised of public rights of way and is well used by walkers, cyclists, and equestrians all-year round. We have identified a section of path that has deteriorated from heavy use and surface water erosion. This section requires repair and drainage improvements to maintain the high standard of access along the National Trail. This section of Trail has public bridleway status yet also serves private vehicular access for several residents and for agricultural operations. A feasibility study for a sustainable draininge solution that will integrate with our proposed surface repairs is required, in order to undertake consultation with stakeholders prior to implementation.
