Notice Description

Portsmouth City Council wish to commission a permanent public art installation on the theme of Safer Streets that reflects the role that Art has to repurpose space from criminal to social activity. Applications are invited from individual artists or artist teams with experience working in the public realm. The aim is to create a suitable piece of artwork to reflect the theme of working together to reduce crime and that is appropriate for the location within the underpass, which connects Paradise Street to Lower Arundel Street and Commercial Road. Design and production budget: PS7,000 Deadline for applications: Thursday 28th October 2021 at 17:00 Selected artists appointed by: Friday 5th November 2021 Completion of art installation: 18th March 2022 You are welcome to contact us for an informal conversation prior to submitting. To arrange this or for any other enquiries / clarifications, all must to be submitted by 21st October via the In-tend correspondence function. As well as this project, the Council are also tendering for a similar piece of artwork at Lake Road. Artists are welcome to submit for either of both projects, however both pieces of artwork are required to be installed by 18th March. Please see full tender pack for details.
