Summary of the contracting process

The Northern Lighthouse Board is currently inviting tenders for the refurbishment and upgrade of the Butt of Lewis Lighthouse, located in Edinburgh, Scotland. This project falls under the construction industry and involves various works, including joinery and carpentry installation, plumbing, electrical installations, and painting. The tender period is set to close on 22 November 2019, and the contract is expected to commence on 6 January 2020, with completion required by 31 March 2020. The total contract value is approximately £500,000, with a minimum value of £100,000 for prospective bidders.

This opportunity presents significant potential for business growth, particularly for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) specialising in construction and refurbishment works. Companies with experience in joinery, plumbing, electrical work, and painting would be highly suited to compete for this contract. Additionally, as a mandatory site visit on 11 November 2019 is required for tenderers, firms must be prepared to engage actively in the tendering process to ensure compliance with evaluation criteria.
