Notice Title

Public Access WiFi Within Chester City Centre

Notice Description

Cheshire West and Chester Council in partnership with the CH1 business improvement district (BID) would like to introduce a free public internet and analytics solution, initially throughout the city centre, and to further develop to include the train station and other points of interest. The council and the BID believe this will help make Chester City Centre a more vibrant and attractive place for citizens, visitors, businesses and shoppers, and that it will increase footfall and help local businesses thrive and grow. The partnership would like to allow visitors throughout the initial scoped areas of the city to have a seamless internet connection, and be able to browse the web at their leisure. Web browsing should be fast, reliable and secure, allowing visitors to undertake a number of activities such as making payments and requesting services. Visitors should be able to self-serve, and the solution should be capable of allowing the council and bid to direct customers to sites following connection. In addition to this, the partnership anticipates that the solution will help underpin other projects and programmes undertaken by the authority, for example, digital advertising boards and interactive internet enabled bins.
