Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence's Land Equipment, Operational Infrastructure is initiating a tender titled "Power Capability Extension (PCE)" to manage the provision of General Purpose Power (GPP) from July 2022 until the transition to Manoeuvre Power (Man-P) planned for 2027. This procurement is categorised under "Fleet management, repair and maintenance services" within the services industry, with an estimated contract value of £100 million. Interested parties should note that the tender period ends on 20th April 2020, leading to a contract period that commences on 1st July 2021 and extends until 31st July 2031. The procurement process is classified as selective, utilising a negotiated procedure.

This opportunity will allow businesses in the energy and maintenance sectors to expand their operations, particularly those with expertise in providing power solutions for military applications. Companies that offer services related to the support and maintenance of electrical power generators, especially within the range of 2kW to 40kW, would be well-positioned to participate in this tender. The extensive contract duration also suggests a long-term partnership potential, which could be advantageous for businesses looking to build stable revenue streams.

Notice Title

Power Capability Extension (PCE)

Notice Description

Power Capability Extension (PCE) seeks to manage the provision of General Purpose Power (GPP) between the end of the current provision for capability in July 2022 and the replacement provision, Manoeuvre Power (Man-P), in 2027 (estimated). GPP provides support for equipment including electrical power generators across the 2kW to 40kW range and electrical distribution equipment in 3 and 1 phase variants. It supports numerous applications in the Land Environment, to support command systems, communications equipment and deployable medical facilities. GPP is required in diverse climatic conditions across the world for extended periods and is therefore a key component of the Army's operating capability. The capability is currently provided through two contracts; a Private Finance Initiative (PFI) and a Contracting For Availability (CFA) service, both using Prime Contractors.
