Summary of the contracting process

The University of Central Lancashire is inviting tenders for a comprehensive 'Degree Apprenticeships Report' under the industry category of Business and Management Consultancy and Related Services (CPV: 79400000). The procurement process is currently at the Tender stage, with proposals expected by 19th August 2024 at 16:00 BST. The contract is set to commence on 1st September 2024, concluding on 1st January 2025. Located in Preston, England (postal code PR1 2HE), the University seeks to identify opportunities for new degree apprenticeships to address regional employment and skills gaps. This open procedure, valued at £10,000, is particularly suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

For businesses, this tender offers a significant opportunity to collaborate with an academic institution to influence the development of the workforce in the region. Companies with expertise in market research, skills gap analysis, or those with existing relationships with regional employers or educational bodies, would be particularly well-suited to compete. Given the focus on leveraging existing data and the expedited timeline, firms experienced in synthesising secondary data into strategic recommendations will find this tender an excellent avenue for growth and establishing a long-term partnership with the University.

Notice Title

Degree Apprenticeships Report

Notice Description

Aim The key purpose of the research is to provide a comprehensive report that identifies key opportunities for the development of new degree apprenticeships. This report will provide the strategic foundation upon which decisions can be taken over where efforts should be directed across the next academic year. Research objectives * Assess the regional employment picture, paying particular attention to where there is existing or potential job growth; * Identify any existing or future skills gaps within the region, that degree apprenticeships could help to address. Specific attention should be given to the Local Skills Improvement Plan; * Assess competitor activity within this space, either as a means of identifying existing opportunities or to identify where competitors may already be taking advantage of an opportunity. Existing provision may indicate a lower threshold of difficulty to access a potential market; * Identify regional employers that could partner with the University to either expand its existing provision, or else introduce new degree apprenticeships. Approach It is envisaged that this report will primarily draw upon existing information, as opposed to the generation of data through primary research. There are myriad sources of data from governmental and non-governmental bodies and organisations that cover employment, education and skills, such as the Labour Force Survey and the ONS' Labour market overview. The output would comprise a report, delivered either as a Word document, PDF, or Powerpoint deck, whichever is deemed most appropriate. Timings The academic year runs from September to August; it is hoped that this report can be produced towards the beginning of the academic year, and no later than the end of September, to maximise the amount of time available for the process of developing new degree apprenticeships. Submission If this is something that you feel that you will be able to provide please submit a proposal to tnewnham@uclan.ac.uk
