Portsmouth D Day 75 Peace Commission - public sculpture/installation

Notice Description

Portsmouth City Council wish to commission a permanent public sculpture/installation on the theme of D Day 75 and Peace which will reflect the role Portsmouth played as the pivotal point for the departure of the troops 75 years ago and the instrumental role they played in bringing peace to Europe. This is an exciting opportunity for an artist(s) to reinterpret Peace in today's environment in a way which also references the sacrifice which was made by the troops from many nationalities as they took part in the D Day landings 75 years ago and the surviving veteran's desire for reconciliation. Applications are invited from individual artists, or artist teams with experience in working in the public realm to create a suitable response which is appropriate for the location next to the D-Day Story.
