Summary of the contracting process

The Forestry Commission is initiating a tender for the "SSSI Wetland Restoration Framework" aimed at achieving ecological restoration in the New Forest, which is part of the South England Forest District. This procurement process categorises as 'works' in the excavating and earthmoving industry and is currently at the Tender stage. The deadline for submissions is set for 30th March 2022, and the contract will commence in June 2022, lasting for a four-year period until May 2026. The total value of the project is estimated at £800,000 and is targeted at suppliers capable of delivering complex wetland restoration services.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for businesses specialising in ecological restoration, excavation, and construction works to expand their operations. Companies equipped with relevant machinery and expertise in managing sensitive environments, particularly those designated as SSSI, SAC, SPA or Ramsar sites, would be particularly well-suited to compete. Furthermore, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to participate, potentially allowing for collaboration and innovation in delivering the required environmental solutions.
