Summary of the contracting process

Leicestershire County Council has completed a procurement process for the "Short Breaks, Domiciliary Care and Early Support & Inclusion for Children with Disabilities" services, classified under recreational and social services. The procurement, conducted through an open procedure, was finalised with a total contract value of £2,440,000, effective from 1 April 2018 until 31 March 2019. This framework allows for service providers to offer support for disabled children and young people's care needs, with an emphasis on promoting their well-being and providing essential domiciliary care services. The procurement process concluded on 15 December 2017, and the resulting framework is set in the East Midlands region of the United Kingdom.

This tender presents substantial opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary community sector enterprises (VCSEs) to expand their service offerings in the social care market. Businesses specialising in child care, domiciliary support, or recreational services targeted at disabled children would be well-positioned to engage with this contract. The annual refresh of the framework allows new providers to tender for inclusion, making it an accessible avenue for innovative service delivery aimed at enhancing the support for children with disabilities across Leicestershire.
