Summary of the contracting process

The South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust has completed a procurement process titled "PAIN: EQUALITY OF CARE AND SUPPORT IN THE COMMUNITY (PEACS)," aimed at improving care for individuals living with chronic pain in Lambeth. This initiative falls under the medical software development services category, with a contract value of £44,000. The procurement process was conducted through a selective method, using a call-off from a framework agreement, and the contract period commenced on 1st April 2022, concluding on 31st March 2024. Key dates included the tender submission deadline on 28th February 2022, with the award date recorded as 18th March 2022.

This procurement presents substantial opportunities for businesses, particularly those specialising in medical software development and healthcare solutions, to participate in the ongoing service delivery through potential future contracts. Companies, especially small and medium-sized enterprises that cater to the healthcare sector and have experience in collaborative project development, would be well-suited to compete. Engagement with local communities, particularly those from Black backgrounds, could also enhance the ability to submit competitive proposals, fostering better health outcomes and addressing inequalities in care.

Notice Title

PAIN: EQUALITY OF CARE AND SUPPORT IN THE COMMUNITY (PEACS)

Notice Description

This project aims to co-develop and test a bio-psycho-social approach in primary care to caring for people living with chronic pain. This approach will include screening, GP consultation and support from a mental health practitioner and the voluntary care sector. Chronic pain is one of the most common long-term conditions in England, as well as locally in Lambeth. Research suggests that chronic pain is more prevalent among people with Black backgrounds. There are also a range of factors that contribute to inequalities of patient experience, access and health outcomes for this population. Effort will go into outreach and engagement with people from Black communities to co-develop the approach. Programme development will start in late 2021, with an aim to start using the digital platform in March 2022.
