Summary of the contracting process

The South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust is inviting tenders for the "Mental Health Prevention Programme - Community Engagement and Capacity Building," aimed at enhancing mental health support in London following the Covid-19 crisis. This procurement falls under the services category, specifically in community health and research consultancy, and it is currently in the Tender stage. The deadline for submissions is 17th July 2020, and the contract period is set to commence on 3rd August 2020, lasting until 2nd August 2021. The total value of the contract ranges from £50,000 to £100,000, and the procurement process will adhere to an open procedure to encourage broad participation.

This tender presents valuable opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs) to engage in meaningful community mental health initiatives across several London boroughs, including Bexley, Bromley, and Southwark. Businesses that specialise in research consultancy, community health services, or social outreach will find this particularly relevant, as the aim is to address the increased demand for mental health support in disadvantaged communities and among non-English speaking populations. This is a chance for organisations committed to social impact and community resilience to contribute significantly while expanding their service offerings in the healthcare sector.

Notice Title

GB-London: Mental Health Prevention Programme - Community Engagement and Capacity Building

Notice Description

Beyond the expected surge in mental health from existing service users we can anticipate that there will be a much wider impact on the population as the country emerges from Covid-19. Evidence shows that in times of significant crisis or financial turmoil there is a significant increase in people who have never previously accessed mental health services suddenly finding themselves in need of our support. Risks to our communities' mental health and the likely psychological fallout from this crisis is universally acknowledged. There is a disproportionate impact on BAME communities and disadvantaged communities. As a direct result of the impact of Covid-19 Mental health services are already starting to see an increase in demand from people who have never previously accessed support before. On 2nd June 2020, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, the South East London Integrated Care System and the four Local Authorities convened the Urgent Mental Health Prevention Summit to explore the impact of Covid-19 on the mental health of our communities including BAME, Children and Young People, Communities and resilience as well as the impact of the recession on people's daily lives. This requiremen is to develop a programme of mental health community capacity building across the following South London boroughs Bexley, Bromley, Croydon, Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark - which will work with schools, faith and community groups to stay well. Making sure we reach out and listen to as many communities as possible across the seven boroughs, including those for whom English is not a first language and those who are not digitally literate to help shape this work. Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
